slide_2012ecuboardbastiaThe European Chess Union Board meeting was held in Bastia, on 07 and 08 June 2012. Two youth competitions were held at the same time - the European Youth Tournament - "Ghjustra European Youth" held on 07&08 June and the Championship School of Haute-Corse, held on 08 June. 3000 children participated in the competitions.

The organizer of the Board meeting and the competitions was a Mr. Leo Battesti, President of the Corsican Chess League. ECU President Silvio Danailov formally opened both competitions, in the presence of other Board members.

Some of the decisions made at the meeting were:

1. Based on Article 2.7. regarding the ECU Bid procedure, the ECU Board decided to extend the deadline for one month for the ECU competitions for which the bid failed or all the bids are considered not to be qualified. All necessary information can be found in the section Bidding procedure.

2. The Bids of the Turkish Chess Federation for the European Club Cup 2014 and the European Team Championship 2015 are not valid because they reached ECU office after the deadline. The bids were sent on 01 May 2012 at 10.19 PM CET.

3. As there was only one bid and the venues are well known, the Board already awarded the following competitions:

 European Team Championship 2015 to Reykjavik, Iceland
 European Individual Championship to Yerevan , Armenia
 European Youth Championship U8 – U18 to Tbilisi, Georgia
 European Senior Team Championship to Sibenik, Croatia
(The Bid fee was not paid by Bidder from Porto Carras, Greece)
 European Individual School Championship to Kalithea, Greece
(Croatian Chess Federation withdrew they bid)
 EU Youth Championship to Malenovice, Czech Republic

4. The dates of the European Individual Championship 2013 and the European Youth Championship 2013 have been changed. The ECU Board accepted the requests from the Polish Chess Federation and Montenegro Chess Federation to change the dates of the competitions. The Polish Chess Federation will organize the European Individual Championship from 04-17 May 2013, while Montenegro Chess Federation will organize the European Youth Championship 2013 from September 28 – October 09, 2013.
