SWISS FEDERAL COURT REJECTED APPEAL OF THE TURKISH CHESS FEDERATION
Swiss Federal Court rejected the appeal of the Turkish Chess Federation related to the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne (CAS) concerning the bid procedure in 2011. In that way the decision of the awarding of European Youth Championship 2013 to Budva, Montenegro is confirmed, as well as the decision to grant European Senior Team 2013 to Dresden, Germany.

ANNUAL ECU GENERAL ASSEMBLY
Regular annual General Assembly of the European Chess Union has been held. The Assembly took place in the hotel "Polat Renaissance" in Istanbul during the recently finished 40th Chess Olympiad. 40 (out of 54) representatives of national chess federations participated in the Assembly. Financial reports for 2011 were adopted as well as the budget for the year of 2013.

EUROPEAN SENIOR TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP 2013. IN DRESDEN

At the ECU General Assembly recently held in Istanbul, it was unanimously decided that the European Senior Team Championship 2013 will be held in Dresden, Germany from 12-20 February 2013.
The organisers will publish the tournament regulations as soon as possible.

Having warmed up with 2 day long European Senior Rapid Chess Championship August 16-17th, the senior players were treated to an Opening Ceremony of 12th European Senior Chess Championship in Kaunas, Lithuania on Saturday noon.
Following the welcome speeches by Kaunas Municipality officials, the players honored the memory of Russian Grandmaster Vitaly Tseshkovsky (1944-2011) with one-minute silence. Afterwards the piano-violin concert took place which turned remarkable considering high acoustics of Palace of Army Officers.
