Corus 2010

chess_2010The 2010 Corus chess tournament was held from 16th until 31st January 2010 in Wijk aan Zee, Netherlands. The winner of the top group qualifies for the Grand Slam Final 2010.

The Corus had three main tournaments, with 14 players each. They are played according to the round-robin system, whereby each competitor plays in turn against every other during the tournament.

Magnus Carlsen won the main A Group by collecting 8.5 points from 13 games. Dutch Champion Anish Giri shone in the Group B and won the competition with 9.0 points, half a point ahead of Arkadij Naiditsch. Li Chao B from China, the top seed in the Group C, convincingly won with 10.0 points, full point and a half ahead of the nearest follower.
