Croatia Chess Championship
The Croatian Chess Championship was held on 18-28th January at the Open University in Otocac. Twelve players, all but one with Grandmaster rank, competed in the round robin tournament. The Championship is officially valid for the year 2009, and top four finishers will qualify for the 2010 event. The prize fund is 10.000 EUR.

Gibtelecom Chess Festival 2010
The 2010 Gibtelecom International Chess Festival got underway today at the Caleta Hotel in Gibraltar. At precisely 2.45pm (Gibraltar time) Charles Isola from Anglo Hispano Ltd, representing all sponsors, made the first move with Etienne Bacrot from France who is the highest rated player in the Gibtelecom Chess Masters.
