Chess Olympiad 2008: New Sponsor and New Logo
The City of Dresden, the Schacholympiade 2008 Chess Foundation GmbH and the EnBW Energie Baden- Wuerttemberg AG as new main and presenting sponsor introduced the new signet of the event. The new logo graphically combines the tournament logo with this of the new sponsor.

Mitropa Cup 2008
The Italian Chess Federation has invited teams from Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland to the Mitropa Cup 2008 in Olbia, Archaeologic Museum (25 May – 4 June 2008). 4th Pivdenny Bank Chess Cup

ECU – ACP meeting in Plovdiv
The Association of Chess Professionals (ACP) reports, that an ECU – ACP meeting took place during the European Individual Chess Championship in Plovdiv, on April 27th 2008. Both the ECU and the ACP were represented by 4 members of their boards:

Kateryna Lahno honoured in Donetsk
Mr Aleksandr Lukyanchenko, Mayor of Donetsk (Ukraine), congratulated GM Kateryna Lahno for winning the European Individual Chess Championship 2008 in Plovdiv (Bulgaria) in the women’s section. According to a resolution of the City Council, Kateryna Lahno was awarded a certificate and a medal “For Services to the City”.
